Apply for ICAP examination
Throughout the year GCCC hosts International Certified Addiction Professional (ICAP) Examinations around the world. The ICAP Examinations cover the necessary knowledge and skills needed to be an effective professional. The material covered in the Universal Curriculums developed by The Colombo Plan’s Drug Advisory Program (DAP) will help prepare participants, however there are other training materials that can also be used to prepare for the examinations.
Click below to select the format you wish to sit for the examination: either an in-person examination by selecting the upcoming test site or by selecting the option to individually take an online exam utilizing the remote proctor system. You will then navigate to the Level of ICAP Examination and begin the application process.
If you have not created an account yet, you will be invited to do so as you advance through the registration process. You only need to create one account. Please note that we encourage you to complete your application in a timely manner. Draft applications will be stored for no longer than 6 months. After this time, we will archive your application and you will have to create a new application.
In person exam: computer center/paper & pencil
GCCC, in collaboration with NAADAC and the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) offers qualified test-takers the opportunity to sit for six ICAP exam levels in person via paper & pencil or on-site computer lab. On your application, if you wish to use one of these modalities, use the drop-down menu and choose the exam site. From there, follow the instructions to complete and submit your application.
Online remote proctored examinations
GCCC, in collaboration with NAADAC and the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) offers qualified test-takers the opportunity to sit for all four of the ICAP-Treatment exam levels using Online Remote Proctoring. This allows the candidate to take the exam on a computer in his or her home or office while being proctored with a webcam by an online live proctor in a different location.
Before registering for Online Remote Proctoring, you should ensure that your computer meets the system requirements and that your testing environment must also comply with the rules for the room. Click here to view those requirements. If you are unable to meet these requirements, you will not be allowed to take your exam individually. You will need to select one of the exam locations above.
From there, follow the instructions to complete and submit your application.
